100% to charity

This weekend was the 7th annual Harbor to the Bay AIDS benefit bike ride!

H2B is a one day 125 mile bike ride from Boston to Provincetown that raises money and awareness of HIV/AIDS. The ride is 100% volunteer, which means, 100% of all donations go to the four beneficiaries of the event (That's pretty much unheard of with fundraising events!) Over the past 7 years, the riders been pretty darn effective raising over 1.5 million dollars for the Fenway Health Institute, the AIDS Action Committee of Massachusetts, the AIDS Support Group of Cape Code, and Community Research Initiative (where I work!) So far this year, the ride has raised over 250K, which is pretty incredible in this terrible economy.

On Saturday, Alex and I spent the day running two pit stops in Weymouth and Eastham. The rain was torrential but the riders smiling faces made it well worth it. Some one had to make sure all 296 riders were fed and happy and the 194 crew members did an amazing job.

I didn't get any pictures of Alex and I at the ride, but here a classic shot of me and my mentor and friend, Jenn Rifenburg! She's is the person who got me into event planning and the girl I most want to be like when I grow up!
