Copper is so hot right now

Whenever we are invited to an adult dinner soirée of any sort, I always feel like I should bring a host of hostess gift. This usually results in picking up a cheap bottle of wine and trying to pass it off as something fancy. Well, that just got a whole lot easier thanks to Mark Montano and The Big Ass Book of Crafts that Alex got me for my last birthday.

It is a fantastic craft book; full of really neat projects, lots of colorful pictures, and great detailed step-by-step instructions. The crafts range from extremely simple to kinda complicated, but there are so many I want to try.

This project took about 5 minutes and came out super pretty, if I do say so myself. Word to the wise though, my hands smelled like silverware for the rest of the night!

Copper-Scouring-Pad Wine Sock (from The Big Ass Book of Crafts by Mark Montano)
  • Copper dishpan scrubber
  • Ribbon
  • Scissors
  1. Unroll the copper scrubber into the shape of a tube
  2. Close the hole on one end by twisting or wrapping some ribbon around the end. This will be the bottom of your wine sock
  3. Place a wine bottle through the open end
  4. Roll the copper tube-up to the neck of the bottle. Tie some ribbon at the top to hold the copper in place.
